Tucker Harding, PhD
Chief Education Officer – North America

Dr. Tucker Harding is the Chief Education Officer at Camino – North America. He is an educator, entrepreneur and theorist working on questions pertaining to the nature, qualities and consequences of educational thought and forms of study. Prior to Camino, he was the Director of Student Success at Norwich University, America’s oldest private military academy. Dr Harding is an Adjunct Professor of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University and his current work reflects on the History of the Educational Thought, Pedagogy, Digital Humanities, Technology and Learning and Communications Theory. Professor Harding is a specialist in improving the study of complex problems and systems, and works with a range of educators and practitioners across a variety of disciplines to enhance decision-making (and related) skill development, often pertaining to perspective-taking, and most recently in the realm of mass atrocity prevention.

Trained as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps, Dr. Harding’s experience allowed him to engage with organizations in several different countries, especially in China, where he lived and taught for five years. Before returning to the United States to begin his tenure at Columbia University, where he has worked at the Center for New Media Teaching and Learning with Dr. Frank Moretti, developing projects across departments, Dr. Harding collected vast experience in private and public sectors, representing higher education, state and federal governments, and NGOs worldwide. He has worked extensively with the United Nations, The United States Department of State, United States Institute of Peace (USIP), US Agency for International Development (USAID), the US Naval War College, the Department of Population and Family Health and Epidemiology of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia, the Columbia Business School, the Budapest Center for the Prevention of Mass Atrocity and Genocide, Illia State University (Tblisi, Georgia), Economic Consortium of West African States (ECOWAS), and the Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity.

Dr. Harding holds a Postdoctoral Degree from Weatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University, where he also received a Doctorate in Communication and Education from Teachers College, advised by Dr. Robert McClintock. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree East Asian Languages and Cultures from Bates College where he studied under Drs. John and Sarah Strong.
